In-Game Activities: Colosseum Strategy Guide
By Immortalbob

Welcome to AC Vault's Colosseum strategy guide.

Here we will discuss strategies for arenas six through eighteen. Using this guide, with practice, any group who can use teamwork and strategy should be able to defeat the Colosseum.

This guide will assume the use of six mages, and three melees or archers. Other permutations may prove better or worse. Try them out, since you never know what you might find!

Preparation:

Everyone should have certain things before this is attempted. Optional things here should be had by certain members of the fellow who will hold key parts in different formations. They are not necessary for everyone.

Quests:
This is a list of quests you may have to complete in order to have all the items you need to complete the colosseum. While it is not all necessary, it greatly increases your chances if everyone in the fellow has what they need.

Augmentation Gems
Shadowfire Weapons
Singularity Weapons
Undead Slayer
Mukkir Slayer
Halls of the Tusker King
Gaerlan's Citadel

All:
Enduring Enchantment Augmentation
At least one Archmage's Endurance Augmentation
Dark Isle items to quickly remove a vitae penalty

Mages:

Shadowfire Weapon (Optional)
Ultimate Singularity Scepter of Life Magic (Optional)

Rares:

Each character will need certain rares to complete the colosseum. The use of the rares will be listed in the arena strategy section. Some characters will need special rares for special instances.
Mages:

Two Hieromancer's Crystals
One Evader's Crystal
One Resister's Crystal
One Life Giver's Crystal (Optional)
One Pearl of Spirit Drinking (Optional)

Melees:

One Weapon Skill Rare (dependent on which weapon skill)
One Resister's Crystal
One Life Giver's Crystal
One Pearl of Blood Drinking (Optional)
One Lugian's Pearl (Optional)

Archers:

One Weapon Skill Rare (dependent on which weapon skill)
One Resister's Crystal
One Life Giver's Crystal
One Pearl of Blood Drinking (Optional)
One Wayfarer's Pearl (Optional)

Formations:

Formations are what is going to make or break your team. If you can all set up correctly, you will inflict maximum damage in minimal time. Time is the name of the game here.

Corner:
This is the easiest formation there is, and does not require a photo. Everyone huddles in a corner to get all the creatures in one spot.

Spread Out:
Spread out is exactly what it sounds like; everyone spreads out around the arena. This helps versus monsters that will go down quickly.

Ring around the bell:
Ring around the bell is a formation where the mages will use ring spells encasing the middle of the arena. Melee/Archers will stay inside the bell area. This draws the monsters inside the area where the rings are being cast.

Crossfire:
This is probably the most widely used of all the formations. Crossfire is exactly what it sounds like, a crossfire of death where monsters are running in between two parties firing Tusker Fists at each other.

Double Tier Corner:
This is a technique which will have 3 people generating a lot of damage to multiple creatures at once. It will only be used in 3 arenas. Six of the fellow members will be in the corner attacking whatever is in front of them. The remaining three will be detached from the fellow using rings or volleys.

Triangle:
Triangle formation will only be used in one arena. It is the formation that will take down the Tremendous Monougas very quickly. Three groups will be firing Tusker Fists into the center of the Triangle (the bell). This will hit the Tremendous Monougas in the middle who are moving from group to group.

Overall Strategy

There are certain things that can be used in all arenas to maximize your time.

Kill quickly:
It is commonly believed that there are 4 spawns per arena, but there are actually 8 spawns per arena. The first spawn is usually 4-5 creatures, and is immediately followed by a secondary spawn of the same creature type. If you manage to take down the initial creatures before the secondary spawn occurs, you will prevent it, saving you time and effort. This cannot be accomplished in every arena, but it does save time in a lot of them.

Listen to your leader:
Your leader will be calling out weapon types, and formations for each spawn. You must be on your toes, and quick to respond. Be ready for the leader's instructions and you will save time.

Leaders should be on the ball:
The leader should be calling out what weapon type, and what formation to use for each spawn. Without a strong leadership, it will take a lot longer to kill, and could jeopardize your chances of completing the Colosseum.

Use your housing items and tusker beers:
Every little bit helps, so be sure to use everything you have available to you, including housing items, beers, and golem hunter rewards(Burning Coals, Platinum Spirits, Coral Fragments, etc.) For a list of current housing items, click here. For information on the golem hunters quest,
